E8Fault

Felicity inverter error E8

Input Curr Over

Faultthe inverter cuts its output and the red LED stays solid until the fault is cleared.

It means the same on every affected model — find yours for the exact fix:

E-CHO-SI3KS2

InverterFault

What it means

Input Curr OverPV input current over the allowed range.

Cause: A fault has been detected in the PV input stage — usually a short, ground fault, or isolation failure between the PV array and the inverter chassis. Wet connectors, damaged cable insulation, or moisture in a junction box are common causes.

How to fix it

  1. Disconnect the PV strings and measure insulation resistance between PV+ and ground, PV- and ground, and PV+ to PV-.
  2. Any resistance below 1 MΩ indicates moisture or damaged insulation.
  3. Inspect MC4 connectors for water ingress.
  4. Reconnect each string one at a time to isolate the faulty string.

InverterFault

Also applies to:E-CHO-SI8KS2

What it means

Input Curr Over

Cause: The PV input current exceeded the inverter's allowed input range: the array is delivering more current than the input stage is rated for, typically from too many parallel strings or a brief over-irradiance spike.

How to fix it

  1. Power down the inverter, wait 5 minutes for capacitors to discharge, then restart.
  2. If the fault recurs immediately or repeatedly, record the exact code and contact your installer or the manufacturer's service line.

Frequently asked questions

What does error E8 mean on a Felicity inverter?
E8 means: Input Curr Over. A fault has been detected in the PV input stage — usually a short, ground fault, or isolation failure between the PV array and the inverter chassis. Wet connectors, damaged cable insulation, or moisture in a junction box are common causes.
Is error E8 a fault or a warning?
E8 is a fault code: the inverter cuts its output and the red LED stays solid until it is cleared.
How do I clear or fix error E8?
Disconnect the PV strings and measure insulation resistance between PV+ and ground, PV- and ground, and PV+ to PV-. Any resistance below 1 MΩ indicates moisture or damaged insulation. The exact steps for each affected model are listed on this page.
