Felicity inverter error E5

Bus Volt High

Faultthe inverter cuts its output and the red LED stays solid until the fault is cleared.

What it means

Bus Volt HighDC bus voltage high.

Cause: Internal DC bus voltage has exceeded safe limits. Usually caused by PV string voltage near the inverter's maximum DC input rating, or by a transient grid disconnection that leaves the bus charged.

How to fix it

  1. Verify total PV string voltage (Voc at coldest expected ambient) is below the inverter's maximum DC input rating.
  2. Common in cold mornings when Voc spikes 15-20% above STC value.
  3. Reduce panels per string if you are near the limit.
  4. For transient faults that self-clear, no action is needed.

Frequently asked questions

What does error E5 mean on a Felicity inverter?
E5 means: Bus Volt High. Internal DC bus voltage has exceeded safe limits. Usually caused by PV string voltage near the inverter's maximum DC input rating, or by a transient grid disconnection that leaves the bus charged.
Is error E5 a fault or a warning?
E5 is a fault code: the inverter cuts its output and the red LED stays solid until it is cleared.
How do I clear or fix error E5?
Verify total PV string voltage (Voc at coldest expected ambient) is below the inverter's maximum DC input rating. Common in cold mornings when Voc spikes 15-20% above STC value.
